A War Game is a game that simulates or represents a military operation, also called a conflict simulation. This has long been recognized by business leaders as a valuable tool for gaining and/or sustaining competitive advantage in a number of industries
‘The Fog of War’ is a term used to describe the level of ambiguity in situational awareness experienced by participants in competitive ‘warfare’. The term seeks to capture the uncertainty regarding one’s own capability, an adversary’s capabilities and adversary intent during an engagement, operation or campaign.
‘The Fog of War’ is caused by limited market research, by competitive disinformation, by delays in receiving intelligence, poor corporate communication, and by the difficult task of forming a cogent category picture from diverse data. Often, when a corporation engages in battle in a competitive category and the urgency for good intelligence increases, so does the ‘fog of war’. This is due to the chaos of the ‘battlefield’. While company units become preoccupied with ‘the everyday battles’, reconnaissance and liaison elements become unavailable.
Stratovation’s War Gaming session seeks to reduce the “fog of war” within your industry or category by immersing your team in future-based scenarios to help win the ‘category war’ and not just the battles.
